David Foster is really great. We played the DVD at a family party and everyone loved it, young & old.

5 out of 5 stars More would be a very good thing   February 22, 2010

I ordered this being a bit bored with movies at the moment. Did not expect it to be something I would watch repeatedly. First, it is hard verbalize the quality of a live performance show but when it's bad, you know it. This show was fantastic. None of the performers wore ear monitors, the band was very clear to hear, when it needed to be, lighting and camera shots were perfect. I really can't say enough about the sound quality. Persons in charge of that deserve accolades. Well done.

Most of the women, although talented, were a disappointment. Katherine McPhee can sing but might as well have been a "dead fish". Her un-enthusiastic demeanor dragged down the performance of The Prayer with Andrea Bocelli like a giant, sinking rock. Ugg, in the future let's ONLY have Celine Dion paired with Andrea. He deserves to have someone who is as passionate as he is to sing with. Rounding out the disappointment, Charice, again, whom can sing, did a 'note-by-note' mimic of Whitney Houston, hand gestures included. This is somewhat forgivable as she is young. Renee Olstead, well, not memorable by any means. Terrible dress too. Cheryl Lynn, great song, great singer, performance was bloated complete with un-necessary and un-interesting dancers.

The men were out-done completely by Michael Bublé. David is correct saying "Michael is a gift". I cannot recall a more enjoyable performance to watch of someone on stage that loves what they are doing. Maybe Ricky Martian's Grammy Performance. Michael has a wonderful voice and endearing quirkiness. The collaboration between him and the "band" is an unending, pleasure to watch and hear.

Josh Groban has no equal. He is unto himself, a singular, musical enigma. His voice "mesmerizes your ears", whereas Michael's voice "pinches your cheek" ( your choice which one, wink ). I have to include Michael Johns because he has wonderful, quality voice. I could easily hear him out in front of an arena band even though he does not seem to be going in that direction. Oddly enough, he dresses that way. Egad, he and Josh could use the name of a good tailor from either Brian Mcknight or Michael Bublé. Brian Mcknight, was the hidden gem in this show. He is a very snappy dresser and sang the heck out of everything. More of him would be a very good thing.

This is an amazing compilation of incredible music that I never tire of watching over & over & over! A must have that you will enjoy for a long time to come.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent value   February 13, 2010

After seeing the PBS special that featured this production, I found the DVD + CD combination package offered on Amazon for a reasonable price.

The DVD contains the entire show and is simply excellent, especially so for a live production. The CD version is also great, however it contains only 9 or 10 audio selections due to the space limitations of that medium.

Most uplifting. On New Year's Day this year, I watched this concert for the first time on Channel 13 our public television station. I ordered the DVD as soon as possible afterwards. This concert is one of the very best I've ever seen.
